On Sunday May 8th (Mothers Day here in Australia) I took the to skies in my 12 Gore 69'000CuFt or if you prefer, 1950 Cubic Metre homebuilt experimental balloon.

The flight lasted just over 1 hour and was a systems check flight really to make sure everything is working fine. Everything performed great, even the newly resized and installed vent panel which has bee the bain of my life with this balloon over the past 2 years.

As per the conditions on my C of A, I flew solo and for a 67 minute flight used 31 litres of fuel at an ambient temperature of 8 degrees below a 250ft thick inversion with 16 degrees on top of the inversion.

This balloon is only the second balloon to be flown under the homebuilt experimental class in Australia, the first being my other balloon. This is the only experimental balloon capable of carrying more than just the pilot.

I have updated the Test Flights page with some of the pictures of the morning and will update with some more as I get time. This coming weekend provides me with another opportunity to put some more hours on the balloon with the weather looking fantastic!

I hope you enjoy the site.
